GENERAL FUNCTION: The pipewelder welds together piping metal components as specified by blueprints work orders or oral instructions. The pipewelder utilizes knowledge of working characteristics of metallic and non-metallic materials including the specifications of the particular equipment to be used in the process.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities: Weld up prefabricated piping components using various welding procedures as outlined in blueprints or specifications. Chips off excess weld slag and splatter using a power grinder chipping gun or manual hammer. DESIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES: Knowledge of pipe welding procedures and safety requirements. DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE & TRAINING: Prior pipewelding experience is preferred but vocational training is some cases ABS (American Bureau of Ship Building) certification is required which confirms their competency indifferent areas of pipe welding procedures...9.
