Job Title: Assistant Civil Detailer
Location: Kansas City, MO 64114
Duration: 12 Months (Contract to Hire)
Shift: 40 hours/week
Responsibilities:
• Assist in preparing detailed drawings using standardized techniques based on sketches, verbal instructions, and notes.
• Collect drawings, calculations, and design inputs from engineers and turn them into initial design models for review.
• Apply company/client drafting standards to develop control schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment connection diagrams.
• Coordinate with engineers and project managers to understand project requirements and verify design details.
• Support drawing production work including layout, detailing, drafting, and problem analysis.
• Collaborate with designers and drafters across disciplines.
• Communicate with internal teams and external clients.
• Execute design changes and drawing revisions.
• Maintain and improve CAD proficiency.
• Perform other assigned duties.
Required Skills:
• Bachelor’s in drafting tech or related field + 2 years’ experience
OR Associate’s degree + 3 years’ experience
OR 4 years progressive detailing/design experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Excel; ability to learn new software.
• Experience with 2D & 3D drafting applications.
• Basic knowledge of engineering design, calculations, and design systems.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-discipline project environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
