About InventWood
InventWood is a pioneering materials science company revolutionizing the construction and building materials industry. We've developed SuperWood, a groundbreaking engineered wood product that is stronger, lighter, more durable, and more sustainable than traditional alternatives like steel and concrete. Born out of research at the University of Maryland, we are transforming the possibilities of wood while promoting responsible forest management and reducing carbon emissions. As we scale our commercial production, we are rapidly expanding our engagement with capital markets and institutional investors.
Position Overview
The Director of Capital Markets and Investor Relations will lead external financial communications and play a key role in capital markets strategy for InventWood. As we expand commercial production, engage with strategic partners, and evaluate future growth financing, this role will be central to shaping investor perception, maintaining strong relationships with current and prospective investors, and ensuring disciplined, data-driven execution of our capital markets activities.
Working closely with the executive team, this role will craft and deliver a compelling financial and strategic narrative for the company. You will manage investor communications, prepare materials for board members and funding partners, lead fundraising and capital markets processes, and serve as the primary point of contact for current and prospective investors, analysts, and financial stakeholders. The firm is considering a Reg A offering and an IPO, and you will play a key role in developing the infrastructure to support professional and regulatory compliant interactions with shareholders. This is a highly strategic role with direct impact on the company’s growth trajectory.
Primary Responsibilities
- Play a key role in developing InventWood’s capital markets strategy, including preparation and execution of materials to support equity, debt, grant, and strategic financing activities.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective investors, analysts, lenders, and strategic partners.
- Craft and manage investor communications, including investor presentations, quarterly updates, financial narratives, white papers, and capital markets materials.
- Own the investor messaging framework and ensure consistent communication across all external touchpoints.
- Evaluate financing alternatives, model capital structure options, and support strategic decision making with rigorous financial analysis.
- Coordinate and lead investor meetings, roadshows, site visits, and diligence processes.
- Prepare detailed financial materials for the Board of Directors and executive leadership.
- Monitor industry trends, capital markets conditions, and peer activity to inform financing strategy and investor messaging.
- Maintain a robust investor CRM and track engagement activities, market sentiment, and investor feedback.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and reporting requirements related to investment communications.
- Beyond simply partnering with internal teams (finance, product, operations) to maintain accurate forecasting, KPI reporting, and financial disclosures, you will be asked to play an active role in developing internal data systems and forecasting methods that will support effective communication with investors.
- Support long-term strategic planning and scenario modeling as the company expands production capacity and global market reach.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, or related field; MBA or CFA preferred.
- 10+ years of experience across investment banking, private equity, venture capital, investor relations, or capital markets roles.
- Proven track record managing investor relationships and executing financing transactions.
- Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing investor-facing materials.
- Ability to synthesize complex technical and financial information into compelling investor narratives.
- Experience working with high-growth companies, materials science, industrial technology, or advanced manufacturing is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to operate with judgment, confidentiality, and executive presence.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent financing and communications workstreams.
