Job Title: Project Manager – Project Lead (8999)

Work Location: Columbia, SC 29201

Work Type: 100% Remote (Candidate must be a current SC resident )

Contract Duration: 12 Months

Daily Duties / Responsibilities

Under limited supervision, the Project Manager will manage all tasks associated with one or more small-to-large projects (or components of larger efforts). This is an individual contributor role with no HR management responsibilities.

Key duties include:

  • Follow established SDLC processes within Medicaid IT Services.
  • Develop and maintain all project documentation throughout the lifecycle.
  • Manage initiation, planning, execution, control, and closeout activities for assigned projects.
  • Coordinate and manage projects using approved project management methodologies.
  • Develop detailed work plans and maintain project roadmaps.
  • Control project scope and schedule to meet deliverables, milestones, and deadlines.
  • Oversee and execute the communication plan.
  • Prepare status reports and present updates to stakeholders, sponsors, and leadership.
  • Identify risks and issues; develop and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate problem resolution and support decision-making.
  • Build and foster a collaborative, high-performing project team environment.
  • Work within Change Management and Release Management structures for system implementations.
  • Create and maintain dashboards (Power BI or equivalent) for project reporting.
  • Write process documentation, gather stakeholder feedback, and present findings to senior leadership.
  • Work beyond 40 hours per week when needed, including possible weekends.

Required Skills

  • PMP Certification
  • 6+ years of experience as a Project Manager
  • 4+ years of experience with Power BI
  • 3+ years of experience with Mainframe and distributed systems
  • Strong organizational, analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, Project, Project Web App, Teams
  • Ability to work effectively in a stressful, fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Adaptability, flexibility, time management, and self-motivation

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Healthcare Claims Processing
  • Experience with Incident and Change Management
  • Experience with Process Development and Management
