Job Description

Title: QC Microbiology Technician

Location: Frederick, MD 21704

100% onsite

Duration: 12 months Contract

Shift: Sunday – Wednesday | 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Position Summary

The QC Microbiology Technician will support Quality Control operations within a commercial cell therapy manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for performing microbiological testing for clinical and commercial products, including environmental monitoring, utility testing, and microbial assays. The position plays a key role in ensuring product quality and compliance in a fast-paced cancer immunotherapy manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform environmental monitoring of cleanroom and controlled manufacturing areas

• Collect and test water samples according to established schedules

• Perform and review microbiological assays including Gram Stain, Endotoxin, Sterility, Microbial Identification, Growth Promotion, Bioburden, and plate reading

• Conduct and review visual inspection of final product

• Perform data entry, trend analysis, and prepare summary slides for management review

• Assist with investigations related to out-of-specification (OOS) results and manage deviations associated with microbiology procedures

• Perform routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and lab spaces

• Review and approve final product release microbiological test results

• Perform additional duties as required to support Quality Control operations

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• Associate Degree with 1+ year of experience in a Microbiology laboratory or Environmental Monitoring OR

• High School Diploma with 2+ years of experience in a Microbiology laboratory or Environmental Monitoring

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with microbiological techniques including environmental air monitoring, water testing, and surface monitoring

• Experience working with aseptic techniques and cleanroom operations

• Knowledge of GMP regulations, SOPs, and Quality Control processes for commercial manufacturing

• Ability to gown for entry into aseptic core and support areas

• Ability to lift approximately 25 lbs.

• Ability to pass vision testing for visual inspection activities

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related applications

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

• Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with minimal supervision

• Flexibility to adjust workload and work overtime as needed
