Position Summary

The Cary Institute is seeking a reliable and vigilant Full-Time Security Guard for the 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM shift, Monday through Friday. The guard will be responsible for securing Institute buildings and grounds, monitoring mechanical systems, and ensuring all visitors comply with established access policies.

Essential Responsibilities

• Perform routine checks of all Institute buildings to ensure property and buildings are secure.
• Confirm that heating and other mechanical systems are functioning properly.
• Patrol Cary Institute roadways during assigned hours.
• Approach and engage visitors when necessary to ensure compliance with access policies.
• Complete a detailed written security report at the end of each shift worked.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Valid New York State Security Guard license.
• Applicants with experience working in state/national parks or with wildlife is a plus.
• Must possess good communication skills and the ability to interact with the public effectively.

Working Conditions

• This is a Full-time Non-Exempt fully benefitted position
• Evening and night work required (4:00 PM to 12:00 AM, Monday through Friday).
• ·  Must be able to perform foot and vehicle patrols in varying weather conditions.
