Job Description

Position Title : Editorial Designer (Publishing Department)

Location : Phoenix, AZ, in office

Status : Full-Time Salaried

The Editorial Designer is responsible for the visual presentation and textual quality of digital and print content, blending writing, editing, and graphic design skills to produce compelling materials that align with brand identity and strategic goals. **This is not a social media manager or strategy role.

Key Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):

  • Content Creation: Design layouts, graphics, logos, and visual assets for various platforms (web, social, print).
  • Editing & Proofreading: Review and refine written content for clarity, grammar, style, and accuracy; fact-check information.
  • Visual Storytelling: Select imagery, typography, and design elements to enhance narratives and user engagement.
  • Brand Consistency: Ensure all content adheres to brand guidelines and maintains a unified visual style.
  • Production: Prepare files for print or digital publishing, manage assets, and oversee final output.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with writers, marketing, and other stakeholders to develop cohesive campaigns.
  • Project Management: Manage editorial calendars, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects. 

Experience Requirements:

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro/After Effects).
  • Design Skills: Strong understanding of layout, typography, color theory, and branding.
  • Editing Skills: Excellent grammar, storytelling, and attention to detail.
  • Software: Familiarity with CMS platforms and potentially video editing tools.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Design, Communications, Journalism, or related field often preferred.
  • Soft Skills: Creativity, time management, communication, critical thinking, adaptability. 
  • Experience working for a print magazine, is a bonus.
  • Experience in working in fashion, high end editorial or with luxury brands, is a double bonus!!
